Is it okay I’m here, babe? ... It’s bad, I know, I shoulda
come sooner. I woulda come sooner. Just uh ... ya know, your
Mom was here and ... couldn’t stand me here at the same time
and ... she was here all the time, so ... but I called her
last night, I told her, I said, “Look. It’s been a year,
it’s Christmas, I’m gettin’ there first tomorrow, you show up
when you show up” ... I know that was mean ... but I had to
see ya today. Christmas! I had to give you both your present
here. Took me a whole year to make. Wanna guess what it is?
Huh? ... I fixed the house. I fixed all of it!

He knees down, and unwraps the
rectangular package. It’s a album.

Ta-dah! Pictures, I got pictures.

He opens the album to the first - very
bright - page.
Look at that. Look at that! Dyker Heights ain’t got nothin’
on me. Seven Christmas trees I got. See? I beat your five!
Even went to K-Mart and bought those uh ... you see those ...

those little hangin’, you know what I’m talkin’ about, those
... these things. Three boxes I bought. I still got more to
put up.

He shows the picture to HIM.

Whatcha think, Mr. Man? Pretty Christmasy, huh? Huh? Here,
I’ll show you the rest.
He flips the page, shows it to HER.

There’s the new front. See? Well, ya can’t see, ‘cause of

the snow, but I put in all new grass. Around the porch.
Right there. And uh ... Tommy helped me with the porch. Put
in those fancy new steps. And uh ... and I put up the
lattice ya like; Mindy knew what creepy vines to put up, I
didn’t know anything about creepy vines, but these creep.
Supposed to. So ... Mindy, Nick, all of ‘em helped out real
nice. Cleaned everything up; can’t even tell it happened ...
Don’t know why they were so damned nice to me.
He flips to another page.

Ah! Living Room. No more poop-brown paneled walls. Look at

that. Mr. Man, ya see that? See? And ... notice? No
couch! That’s right. I traded in a couch for a Nordic
Track. See there? Right there. Nordic. Track. Every
mornin’ I use that thing, a whole hour I use that thing ...
You can’t tell - not yet - but I get up. Every mornin’.
No more fallin’ asleep on the couch for me. No way ...

He flips through several pages rapidly.
